Editorial Standards

This page explains how our guides gets made, whether it’s written in-house or by an outside contributor. It’s here for readers who want to know how we work, and for anyone thinking about writing for us.

What We Publish

Guides that answer a real question someone actually has, from small everyday problems to bigger decisions around money, travel, and time. If it’s something people search for and struggle to find a straight answer to, it belongs on PenguGuides.

How We Write

  • Plain language, written the way a knowledgeable friend would explain something, not a corporate brochure.
  • The core question gets answered early. Readers shouldn’t have to dig through paragraphs of setup to find what they came for.
  • Every section serves a distinct purpose. If two sections answer the same question, one of them gets cut.
  • Personal experience and specific detail are used where they genuinely add something, not dropped in for flavor.

Accuracy And Sourcing

  • Stats, costs, and benchmarks are checked against real sources before a guide publishes. Nothing gets included because it sounds right.
  • Guides get revisited and updated as facts, prices, or regulations change. A guide is treated as a living page, not a one-time post. Outdated guides get deleted.
  • Anything involving earnings, investing, or professional fields is written as general information, with a clear note that it isn’t personalized financial, legal, or medical advice.

Structure And Readability

  • Headings represent real questions or topics. No heading exists just to break up text.
  • Long, dense sentences and passive voice are kept to a minimum so guides stay easy to skim and easy to read start to finish.
  • Every guide points to a clear next step. Information without a next step isn’t the goal.

Editorial Independence

Recommendations reflect what we’d actually tell a friend. Once the site carries sponsored content, affiliate links, or paid placements, those relationships will be disclosed clearly on any page that includes them.
